Skip Holm is a veteran combat pilot who lives on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada. He claims to hold the world record for combat flight hours - 1,172. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1992 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

More recently, Holm has been admired for his unlimited class air race aircraft often seen at the National Championship Air Races, Reno, Nevada.
